If you are on your way to the extension area, you will pass a piece of history. The path to Capybara, Kangaroo & Co. is lined with two impressive bear statues made of reddish sandstone. At first glance they look the same, but on closer inspection you will discover differences. These two bears mark the site of the oldest zoo entrance, which was used until 1928. The new Lichtenstein Bridge was built between 1983 and 1987.
And do you know what is in the old gatehouse today? That's right, you can get coffee and cake there today!
