Zoo Berlin and its animals can be experienced in a variety of ways and with all senses. Special, inclusive tours are aimed at guests in particular who are unable to use all of their senses equally.
Further information & booking
Overview: Barrier-free Zoo
Since Zoo Berlin does not have its own visitor parking spaces, we highly recommend using public transportation. There are a few public (paid) parking spaces in front of the Zoo´s Löwentor entrance at Hardenbergplatz and several parking garages in the vicinity.
There are several accessible public restrooms in the Zoo. To see their exact locations as well as additional services, check the map here.
Manual wheelchairs are available for rent free of charge. Since we only have a certain number of wheelchairs, please make sure to send us an e-mail at info@zoo-berlin.de to reserve one for your visit. We will need your name, mobile number, the date you would like to visit us, and the approximate time you plan to arrive. Rentals require a deposit. An identity document or an item of similar value is usually suitable. Weight restrictions apply.
The charge-free wheelchair service is kindly made possible by Dr. Recknagel Gesundheitsservice GmbH. Further information can be found here.
Of course, we allow conventional wheelchairs and walkers as forms of walking aids on our property. Toddler bicycles such as balance bikes and scooters (for children up to the age of 5) may also be taken into the Zoo. The same goes for handcarts.
Other means of transport are also permitted on presentation of a severely disabled person's identity card with the symbols ‘G’ and/or ‘aG’ or alternatively, an explicit medical certificate. Please contact the Servicecenter at the Zoo´s Löwentor entrance on the day of your visit. There you will receive a special permit after the documents have been checked.
Bicycles, e-scooters, road-registered vehicles, and vehicles with combustion engines are not permitted.
Assistance dogs are allowed to enter Zoo Berlin with the presentation of the appropriate certificate. On the day of your visit, please contact the Servicecenter at the Zoo´s Löwentor entrance. After a successful review of the documents, you will receive a special permit for your four-legged companion.
Your assistance dog is also allowed in the animal houses – just not in the walk-through animal enclosures. Apart from the food service area, assistance dogs are also permitted in the restaurant areas. However, please always pay attention to the current signage on site.
Numerous benches are scattered throughout Zoo Berlin. Most of them are equipped with backrests.
Guests with severe disabilities receive a discounted entry to Zoo Berlin with a disability degree of 50 or higher (upon presentation of a disability ID). If the ID contains a B or H remark, one assistant can enter for free.
The entrances and exits to Zoo Berlin are accessible.
A large portion of the paths and areas are accessible without obstacles. Due to the historical layout with cobblestones and floor coverings within the walk-through enclosures, there may be some limitations.
Unfortunately, Zoo Berlin does not have first aid rooms or areas for changing teenagers or adults.
