The Sparkasse bank has been the main sponsor of the Zoo School for many years. It also sponsors our female rhinoceros Maburi and finances, among other things, lovingly compiled gift sets for birthday boys and girls.

How do children learn, and how can they absorb information about the world quickly and effectively? With its research group iSearch, the Max Planck Society is investigating how children actively seek out information in their physical and social environment – including at Zoo Berlin. The research group is present on site with a mobile research station, and young zoo visitors are welcome to pop in and participate in exciting experiments.

25hours Hotel Berlin has taken over the sponsorship of our Sumatran orangutan Bini and created an individual and unique cocktail especially for the cooperation, which is on offer at the hotel’s Monkey Bar. All proceeds from “Bini’s Monkey Pokey” fund this sponsorship.

Big hopes were pinned on a tiny pulse: Meng Meng’s journey to motherhood relied heavily on the help of experts from the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research. In cooperation with the Zoo team and using modern reproductive medicine, the biologists and veterinarians were able to contribute to the conservation of these endangered bamboo-eating bears. On 31 August 2019, just a few days after the experts first discovered a small beating heart in an ultrasound scan, the healthy panda twins were born.
