Roaringly Good Fun During the Holidays at Zoo Berlin

Zoo and Aquarium Berlin once again have an exciting programme for all school children during this year's summer holiday. Keen architects, big explorers and resourceful detectives will be right at home here! There is a total of three different programmes: from building an insect hotel to exciting treasure hunts through all corners of the Zoo and a voyage of discovery through Africa.

Build a hotel for the Aquarium insects!

The creepy-crawlies: Insects are the smallest inhabitants in the Aquarium – strictly speaking, even the Zoo complex as a whole – and the focus will be on them on 23 July as well as 6 and 24 August. Under the supervision of a Zoo school guide, children between the ages of 10 and 12 have the chance to build a hotel for the nimble arthropods, take part in a guided session through the various insect worlds of the Aquarium and learn all there is worth knowing about this amazing multi-faceted species group.

The programme takes place on each event day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs 30 euros per child including entry. The Infopoint at Hardenbergplatz 8 is the meeting point.

Off to Africa!

Where exactly is the origin of humankind? How do lions, giraffes & co. live in the wild? And what do African children do in their free time?

Young adventurers can get all their kicks on 27July, and 13 and 20 August from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The Africa programme allows children aged between 8 and 12 to gain an insight into the animal kingdom and the culture of this diverse continent. The crowning glory is a handicraft course where you can make typical African jewellery from natural materials.

The African Adventure starts at the Infopoint at Hardenbergplatz 8 and costs 30 euros/child incl. entry.

Who'll Find the Treasure?

It will be the seventh time now that Zoo Berlin has invited guests to take part in the summer animal treasure hunt:For 7 euros plus entry, you start at the Löwentor entrance, crisscrossing the grounds – past inhabitants and visitors undertaking your detective work for your very own "Animal treasure". You'll have to solve exciting animal puzzles and pass fun games on your way. A true "animal surprise" awaits all young hunters at the end of the tour.

The treasure hunt is suitable for children aged between 8 and 12 years, lasts about 1.5 hours and starts on 16, 20 and 30 July as well as 3, 10, 17, and 27 August at 2 p.m..

And what will autumn bring?

A voyage of discovery!
Children from the age of eight to eleven can discover whole continents from 19 to 23 October: Holidays in Africa, Asia or America are on the agenda in Zoo Berlin! Let's embark on a Safari accompanied by experienced Zoo guides. Animals can be observed, Zoo inhabitants experienced up close and exciting insights behind the scenes gathered:
Where do the hippos dive down to? How do the scraggy takins live? And what kind of bed can really accommodate the 800 kg bison?

The exciting programme takes place from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. on each day, Monday to Friday. This programme runs during the holidays and is exclusively for children (without parental accompaniment). The daily-alternating Zoo experiences can be booked on a daily basis for €20/ child or you can take advantage of the weekly offer which is €85/child.

We do, of course, also offer exciting treasure hunts through the Zoo during the autumn.

The wild hunt will start at the Löwentor entrance on 19, 22, 26 and 29 October, where the children will be able to embark on a 90-minute wild hunt between the monkeys, hippos and co. into every secret nook and cranny of the Zoo. This tour will start at 2 p.m. at each of the dates stated and is suitable for children between eight and twelve years (under 10s must be accompanied by their parents).
