Roaring Halloween

Invaders! And with a rather imposing, strikingly orange and terrifying air of confidence too! Slightly puzzled by the "visit", the meerkats scurry together with leader Fred by the horrifying grinning Halloween pumpkin. Fred, you're not leaving anyone behind are you?

The Zoo and Tierpark Berlin have devised something quite special for their inhabitants this Halloween: Large pumpkins with creepy grimaces and bursting with tasty treats for an unbelievably exciting Halloween. The meerkats, ring-tailed and narrow-striped mongooses will get a little Halloween surprise at the Zoo: pumpkin heads filled with mealworms. This isn't only a feast for them – the protein-rich insects are actually the favourite food of the nimble mammals – it also provides us with a wonderful opportunity for animal engagement.

The animal keepers are always looking into new opportunities for entertainment for the animals. As the motto goes "You can run but you can't hide"; it is now time to find courage to overpower the orange giants. Because if successful, it means that various paths can be explored in order to snatch the delicious mealworms from inside of the pumpkin. Fred, the brave one, scales the pumpkin right away and immediately plunges head-first into the festive feast. The remaining gang of three proceed with a little more caution: Since even though you might get lucky at the beginning, what's stopping those teeth clasping you in the mouth? – everything happens so quickly, it could snap any moment!

It's now time for the ring-tailed and narrow-striped mongooses to bite the bullet, albeit more timidly – after all, this appetite has to be satisfied. So let's all have a taste of autumn!

    Events tip:

Halloween is also celebrated in Tierpark Berlin. On 31 October 2015, decrepit skeletons, creepy phantoms and other sinister characters gain the upper hand in the Tierpark from 5:30 p.m. – they cavort around the isolated paths, in the bushes, do their rounds through the fog and make Halloween a scary, yet wonderfully gruesome experience for the whole family!

These tickets can be purchased from now at any of the Tierpark ticket offices and from 5 p.m. on 31 October at the box office (any tickets that are remaining). Entry costs €10 for adults, children from five years of age pay €5 per ticket.
