Six western lowland gorillas live at Zoo Berlin. In the wild, these gentle vegetarians are in danger of dying out. Deforestation, hunting for bushmeat, and diseases like Ebola have led to a drastic decline in the number of gorillas living in their natural habitat. Berlin’s zoological gardens support the work of the Wildlife Conservation Society Congo. Our project partner conducts field research in the Republic of the Congo in order to gain valuable scientific insight that will help protect the gorillas.
