Fairy tales, myths and more

What do the European wolf and the brown bear have in common?

Both animals play a crucial role in the ecosystem - in their natural habitat, they regulate game populations or consume carrion, increase biodiversity, and thus maintain the ecological balance. And yet, they still have to contend with prejudices. No wonder, as wolves and bears disappeared from Germany for over 100 years. Thanks to protective measures, they can return - and we first have to learn to live with them again.

To counteract outdated fairy tales and myths and to pique your interest in these two fascinating animal species, you will find lots of exciting facts about wolves and bears here at the zoo - and about how humans and wild animals can live together.
