Big move for little panda girls: The twins Leni and Lotti, born on August 22, 2024, are now almost 5 months old and ready to trade their "crib" for an exciting playroom. Here, the sisters have even more space to crawl, climb, and explore their surroundings in a playful way.
During the day, Leni and Lotti spend most of their time together with their loving mother, Meng Meng (11). For about an hour in the early afternoon, one of the twins can be seen by zoo visitors. At night, however, the twins sleep separately from their mother in their cozy "sleeping box". Currently, the young pandas are nursed once a day. "The development of Leni and Lotti is progressing just as well as that of their brothers, Pit and Paule, back in the day," says Zoo and Tierpark Director Dr. Andreas Knieriem. "They are curious, playful, and showing significant progress in their coordination and behavior. Both made their first steps around the New Year and are becoming more confident on their feet every day. Their move to the playroom is an important milestone, giving them even more room to practice their motor skills."
Visitors eager to watch the panda twins embark on their first adventures can do so daily in Zoo Berlin’s Panda Garden starting today. From 1:30 to 2:30 PM, one of the cubs will be on view in the indoor area - not in the crib anymore but exploring the entire "panda living room" under the watchful eyes of their keepers.
