Bamboo truly is a bear necessity for our pandas. Twins Pit and Paule are now consuming ten to 15 kilograms of the plant each day.

Pandas have to eat large quantities of bamboo because it is very low in nutrients. That means twelve hours of eating each day, and another twelve hours relaxing from the effort.
