It was four years ago today, on 5 July 2017, that Zoo Berlin’s Panda Garden was officially opened.

To mark the occasion, we have put together a compilation of Panda Garden footage – its construction, the arrival of Meng Meng and Jiao Qing, and the first steps and climbing attempts of panda twins Pit and Paule.

The Panda Garden combines traditional elements with modern architecture, evoking the cloud forests of the Chinese mountains where these threatened bears live. The over 5,000 m² habitat offers its adorable residents a variety of options for play and relaxation, either in front of visitors or away from the public gaze. A rocky stream with a small pool, trees for climbing, caves and swings provide the pandas with plenty of variety in their daily lives.
