Getting a taste for the panda life: Young Paule is gradually starting to discover bamboo. He nibbles at the leaves and is developing a technique for splitting the thicker bamboo canes. Pandas start to take an interest in bamboo at the age of nine or ten months. Later, just like mum and dad, each of the panda twins will eat around 10 to 20 kg of bamboo a day. Adult pandas basically spend twelve hours a day eating and the next twelve hours recovering from the effort of eating!
