Fortunately, their population has recovered over the past century thanks to the commitment of people on the ground who have designated suitable protected areas and deployed anti-poaching units. Modern, scientific zoos have also played an important role in conservation efforts – providing a safe and comfortable refuge for entire generations of Indian rhinos and financially supporting habitat protection efforts. This work is always guided by the belief that people will be motivated to protect something they value.
