Tilla goes exploring
One small step for Tilla – one giant leap for the gorilla family. For the first time, at five months of age, our little gorilla baby has dared to leave her mother’s side and tentatively explore her surroundings. But the whole gorilla family is still keeping a close eye on inquisitive young Tilla.
Newborn gorillas are carried everywhere by their mothers – at first hanging from their tummies, and later on their backs. Until now, Tilla’s mum Bibi – or sometimes her father Sango – has put an end to the baby’s attempts to venture off as soon as she got an arm’s length away. Now, however, Tilla is slowly but surely learning to crawl and climb.
