We surprised our female elephants Anchali, Carla and Pang Pha with a few leftover fir trees as a side dish to their delicious bamboo – and they certainly didn’t turn their trunks up at it!
Did you know that an elephant’s trunk is a multi-purpose tool? The animals use it not only to breathe and smell, but also to grip thick branches and pick up even very small items. They also use their trunk to communicate and to suck up water, which they can then spray into their mouth.
