All 86 birds that had recently been in contact with the infected bird have been tested. We are now testing around 200 additional birds that were not in direct contact with the infected bird but were being looked after by the same keepers. We hope to have the first results by the middle of next week.
Zoo Berlin, the state veterinary office and the Berlin Senate are working closely together to prevent the spread of avian influenza. We do not yet know how long the Zoo will have to remain closed. As soon as we have the first test results, we will hold a press conference and issue statements.
