Christmas at the Tierpark
New at the Tierpark – a unique festive experience! Get in the Christmas spirit on a magical stroll amidst thousands of twinkling lights.
Skaters glide across the ice, the air is filled with Christmas music and the sweet smell of cinnamon treats, and sparkling fairy lights illuminate the beautiful park grounds. This Christmas, Tierpark Berlin is being transformed into a winter wonderland!
Shortly after the gates close, the Christmas spirit comes alive at Tierpark Berlin. From 21 November 2019 to 5 January 2020, Europe’s biggest animal park will be aglow with a festival of lights to delight the whole family. An approximately two-kilometre route meanders through the colourfully illuminated park, passing gorgeously decorated treetops, a sea of stars at the edge of the footpath, beautiful reflections playing upon the water, and of course a few sparkling “animals” along the way. At the centre of this glittering spectacle stands historic Schloss Friedrichsfelde manor house with its impressively illuminated façade. Before it lies what must be the most beautiful ice rink in Berlin: where fountains gush skywards in the summer, winter sees skaters glide elegantly over the ice – surrounded by festively decorated huts serving up seasonal treats.
“The thousands of lights will present Tierpark Berlin’s remarkable parkland in a completely new way,” says Zoo and Tierpark Director Dr Andreas Knieriem. “I am delighted that we are able to offer such a dazzling experience during what is otherwise a rather bleak time of year.”

Overview of the most important information
Christmas in the Tierpark runs from 21 November 2019 to 5 January 2020, from 5 to 10:30 p.m. (except on 25 and 26 November and on 2, 3, 24 and 31 December). The path only passes through part of the Tierpark grounds. As such, only a few of the Tierpark’s animals will be on view. Access is via the Bärenschaufenster entrance only. To ensure all guests enjoy a pleasant stroll, admission is limited to a certain number of people per hour. Once inside, there is no time restriction on the length of stay (until closing). In order to avoid long waits at the Tierpark ticket booths, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance. Tickets are available from www.weihnachten-im-tierpark.de.
Attention: Ticket inspections!
Please note that the Tierpark closes at 4.30 pm and that you have to leave the area by then. For the evening event "Weihnachten im Tierpark" separate tickets are necessary. Corresponding ticket inspections also take place inside.
During the running time of „Weihnachten im Tierpark“ (until January 5) the Tierpark entrances close at 3.30 pm.
