Extra special birthday celebrations
Zoo Berlin is not only home to more species than any other zoo in the world, it is also Germany’s oldest zoo. In summer 2019, the Zoo will be inviting visitors to join in the celebrations for its 175th birthday. On Friday, 2 August, the zoo will stay open an extra 175 minutes, allowing locals and visitors from all over the world to soak up the magical evening atmosphere among okapis, elephants and other fascinating animals.
On the weekend of 3-4 August, visitors can enjoy a diverse programme of entertainment around the Polar Bear Fountain from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities will include animal face painting, decorating cards with animal motifs, crafting animals from biodegradable materials, and an acrobatic circus where the children can join in and show off their talents. In addition, fascinating tours will take visitors on an exciting journey through the history of Zoo Berlin and give them exclusive peeks behind the scenes.
What is the secret hidden in the craggy cliff where the goats live? Which iconic zoo animal is the subject of a popular song from the 1930s? Armed with a puzzlehunt form, visitors can explore the history of the zoo and test their knowledge.
There is no extra charge for these special events on top of the regular price of admission.
