The end is in sight for work on the Panda Plaza
The panda residence is almost finished. But this is no time to rush things, as now begins the delicate task of fitting the windows. Over the past few days, a team of builders have been using a crane to help them carefully place the large plate-glass windows – up to 3.5 metres high and 33 millimetres thick – into their frames in the Panda Plaza.
In plain view
In just a few months, visitors to Zoo Berlin will be able to watch our panda couple through the expanse of glass, which will total around 300 m² when finished. The visitor area will be a cosy and dry place from which onlookers can easily observe the bears as they enjoy life in Europe’s most modern panda habitat.
