A collapsible crane
Still plenty to be done
But of course that doesn’t mean all the construction work on the panda habitat is nearly over – quite the opposite! In many places the work is only just beginning. The roof is being sealed, the exterior walls of the panda homes are being plastered, work is continuing on the interior, pipes and cables are being laid, the foundations of the Chinese Pavilion are being poured – and this week, work began on the excavations and formwork for the water courses that Mr and Mrs Panda will later be able to enjoy splashing about in.
This week we have also been getting to grips with conduits, as cables and heating pipelines are being laid. That means trenches are being dug every which way across and around the construction site and then filled in again once the pipes and cables are properly in place.
