We’re working for you!
We currently have three large construction projects going on here at the zoo.
- Firstly, preparations are well underway for the construction of an enclosure to house our pandas from summer 2017, who are sure to be a new zoo highlight. This work will cause obstructions between the lion and giraffe houses as well as around the entire deer area.
- Secondly, the new Predator House is scheduled for renovation at the start of the new year. As it is not possible to carry out this work with all the big cats present, a number of species are currently being relocated to other zoos. Many of these animals will return once the necessary refurbishment is complete.
- The third construction site is at the Eagles’ Rock, where we are also building a new modern home for the inhabitants. These animals will be out of the public eye for the duration of this work.
- Due to the bird flu our “World of Birds” and our pheasantry are temporarily closed.
Unfortunately, keeping the zoo’s facilities up-to-date requires occasional periods of construction. But both the animals and you, the visitors, will benefit in the long-term from the work that is currently underway. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are looking forward to presenting both you and the animals with spacious new enclosures once the work is complete. Let’s hope we have a mild winter!
Thank you for your understanding, and enjoy the most species-rich zoo in the world!
